Abstract

In cooperation of the two observatories mentioned above, a detailed study of hydrogen treatment for the emulsion types IIa-O, IIa-F, 103a-O, 103a-F, 098-04, IIIa-J and IIIa-F has been made. Temperatures ranging from −25°C up to 60°C have been used for treatment times from 20 minutes up to several months. The factors of 1.8 to 5.0 corresponding to the sensitivity increase, at a density D = 0.6 above fog, have been found, depending on the type of emulsion and optimum treatment conditions. In this paper we shall concentrate only on the blue sensitive types IIa-O and 103a-O, the others will be reported later.
