Abstract
We use the KODAK IIIa-J emulsion to obtain deep prism plates with the former Hamburg Schmidt telescope now operating at Calar Alto Observatory/Spain. The plates are scanned in Hamburg with a PDS microdensitometer to search for quasars (Hagen et al., 1986). To reach optimum sensitivity the plates are baked at 65° C in nitrogen. Under the weather conditions on Caler Alto a desensitization of the plates during exposure (t ~ 1 hour) is probable, as they are not protected against contact with ambient air. Test series were performed in February 1987 on Calar Alto to obtain a measure of this effect for typical humidity values.
