Zusammenfassung
James Clerk Maxwell veröffentlichte im Jahre 1864 eine Arbeit, in der er, was später als die Krönung der klassischen Physik bezeichnet wurde, die Beziehungen zwischen elektrischen und magnetischen Feldern fand und die die Erkenntnis enthält, daß die elektromagnetischen Wellen sich mit Lichtgeschwindigkeit ausbreiten. Dabei wird nachgewiesen, daß das Licht selbst in Form einer elektromagnetischen Welle auftritt [4.1]. Obwohl die elektromagnetische Energiefortpflanzung inzwischen auch quantenmechanisch beschrieben wird, ist es möglich und oft notwendig, viele Eigenschaften des Lichtes und der Temperaturstrahlung durch die klassische Wellen-Näherung zu beschreiben.
