Zusammenfassung

Der Thymus ist ein für die Entwicklung des Immunsystems sehr bedeutendes Organ, das endokrinen Einflüssen unterliegt. Die epithelialen Anteile entwickeln sich aus der 3. Kiementasche während der 6. Fetalwoche als paarige Knospen. Die Drüse deszendiert mit 2 Lappen bis zur Geburt in den oberen Abschnitt des vorderen Mediastinum.
