Zusammenfassung

Zur Häufigkeit einer Aspirationspneumonie im Kindesalter gibt es nur spärlich brauchbare Zahlenangaben. Nach einer Statistik der Universitäts-Kinderklinik Heidelberg betrug in der Zeit von 1951–1960 der durchschnittliche Anteil an allen Pneumonieformen etwa 2,5% (Schmid) et al. 1966). Diese Aspirationspneumonien sind überwiegend im ersten Lebensjahr festgestellt worden. Es kann aber angenommen werden, daß Aspirationspneumonien viel häufiger sind als sie erkannt werden, da sie von Pneumonien anderer Ätiologie in der Regel radiologisch nicht zuverlässig zu unterscheiden sind und der Aspirationsvorgang nicht selten der Beobachtung entgeht.
