Abstract

NHK has been engaged in the development of MUSE for a system of High Definition Television (HDTV) transmission via broadcast satellite, and has conducted various transmission experiments — including the one shown at Tsukuba Expo — while working out details of the system. Development has finally reached the stage where MUSE can be proposed as a standard. Here, we propose the MUSE system as a high definition television transmission system using a single channel of a broadcast satellite.
