Abstract

Due to the bulk valence band degeneracy, Landau levels in the quasi-two dimensional hole systems have nonlinear magnetic field dependence and multiple cyclotron frequencies, features not existent in the conduction electron systems. It is shown how the Landau levels can be sorted out into subbands, classified according to the approximate nature of the spin up or down heavy or light holes. Calculations are used to interpret the observed cyclotron resonances. The warping effect is shown to play an important role.
