Abstract
The evaluation of the turbulence length scale is one of the key problems in turbulence modelling. Transport equations for the length scale or for the dissipation rate can be deduced from the NAVIER equations but each term must be modelled. Standard models are based upon dimensional analysis and tensorial invariance.
