Abstract

The benefit of Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICU) is well recognized. Among the numerous reports on this topic, I selected the following centers for their outcome studies of patients after initially successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR): Bedell (Boston) [1], Earnest (Denver) [2], Levy (New York) [3], Liberth-son (Miami) [4], Longstreth (Seattle) [5], Nichols (Philadelphia) [6], Snyder (Minnesota) [7], Torphy (Wisconsin) [8]. The other data base for this report is the work of the study group “Cerebral Resuscitation” of the Belgian Society of Intensive Care (SIZ) [9]. In this group, several Belgian MICU centers have prospectively registered pertinent data on all cardiac arrests (CA), since 1982.
