Abstract

If performed very early thrombolysis may improve the prognosis of the acute phase of myocardial infarction (A.M.I.). However, patients arrive usually too late, necrosis is complete and only 15 to 19% of patients with A.M.I. may profit from thrombolysis. Treatment of the acute phase of a myocardial infarction is now a timed race.
