Zusammenfassung
Wegen seiner Wirksamkeit auf die Kontraktilität des Skelettmuskels wird das Alkaloid Chinin nicht nur als Antimalarium (Rolle, 1975), sondern auch in der Therapie verschiedener Muskelerkrankungen wie Myotonie oder nächtliche Wadenkrämpfe eingesetzt. Seine Anwendung führt bei der quergestreiften Muskulatur zu einer Verstärkung der Einzelkontraktion, während die Bereitschaft zum Tetanus abnimmt; letzteres wird auf eine Verlängerung der Refraktärzeit in der Einzelfaser zurückgeführt (Harvey, 1939). In dieser Arbeit konnte auch eine curare-ähnliche Wirkung auf Grund der erniedrigten Antwort des Skelettmuskels auf Acetylcholingabe unter Chinineinwirkung gezeigt werden.
