Abstract
Phytoalexins are low molecular weight compounds with antimicrobial properties which accumulate postinfectionally in plants from various families (Bailey and Mansfield 1982). To evaluate the significance of phytoalexins in plant disease resistance, quantitative knowledge of their exact spatial and temporal distribution within plant tissue near infection structures of invading microorganisms is of great importance.
