Relations Between the Crack Tip Opening Displacement, δ5, and the Modified J, JM

  • Conference paper

Abstract

In this paper different candidate parameters to describe the process of crack growth and plastic deformation are discussed:

in particular the crack opening displacement, δ5, and the modified J, JM. It is shown that a one to one correlation is expected between them, independently of the specimen characteristics.

Experimental data show the adequacy of the approach.
