Abstract
We describe a knowledge-based graphic display generation system called AIPS which accepts incomplete specifications and elaborates these into a display description structure specific enough to be drawn. A uniform knowledge representation, KL-ONE, is employed to capture both display content and display structure.
Funding was provided by the Information Processing Techniques Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, whose support is gratefully acknowledged. The research group at BBN included Norton Greenfeld, Martin Yonke, Jeff Gibbons and Frank Zdybel. The work was carried out between January 1979 and March 1982.
