Micrite Diagenesis in Senonian Rudist Build-ups in Central Tunisia

  • Chapter
Reef Diagenesis

Abstract

Studies of reef diagenesis, intensified during the last two decades, have demonstrated the importance and the variability of diagenetic processes ranging from marine cementation to freshwater dissolution and neomorphism. Many examples, not all of which are reefs, are compiled in two volumes on carbonate cements, one edited by Bricker (1971), and the other by Schneidermann and Harris (1985). These diagenetic modifications have been recognized both in modern and ancient reefs generally composed of corals and algae. Noncoral reefs, including rudist build-ups, have received less attention, one notable exception being the contribution of Enos in this Volume.
