Abstract
Measurement and recording of intracranial pressure (ICP) were described by Janny in 1950 and ICP monitoring in neurosurgical procedures was proposed by Lundberg in 1960. However continuous monitoring of ICP in the Intensive Care Units has only recently become a common practice in the management of severe head trauma patients and its use in nontraumatic neurological disorders remains under investigation.
