Summary
The objective is to evaluate the thermal losses from the receiver over the temperature range at which the receiver may operate. To achieve this, tests have been carried out with no concentrated power reaching the receiver and with the receiver doors open. The tests consist of circulating sodium through the receiver at different inlet temperatures and estimating the losses by multiplying the mass flow rate times the enthalpy loss.
