Summary
This paper discusses topics which are revelant to the quantitative evaluation of the thermal performance of a solar receiver. It outlines the general problem of thermal balance by considering the heat transport equation as an element of the receiver wall and describing the difficulties which must be solved or circumvented to arrive at numerical solutions for a real receiver.
