Wave Forces on a Horizontal, Submerged, Spinning Cylinder

Abstract

A submerged, fixed object is subjected to wave forces. If the object has an axis of rotational symmetry and is rotated around this axis with constant angular velocity, the wave force on the body may be changed substantially. The phenomenon may be explained as a Magnus effect in waves.
