Toward an Industrial Approach to Educational Software Development

Abstract

Educational software is defined as software which is developed for use in or applied to education. The production of educational software is a new activity. Until recently, experience in the Netherlands was mainly concentrated within university education and in projects in primary and secondary education supported by universities. These developments were mostly achieved with the aid of mainframe computers. Generally, the final product did not comprise a single lesson, but instead more or less it contained a number of coherent lessons.
