Summary
The study has been started in 1983 combining the results of antibiotica testing against cultured germs in 70 microbiological laboratories all over the Federal Republic of Germany. The individual laboratories receive statistics describing their special situation in regard to resistencies and frequencies of germs and type of material. Comparisons with the overall material are possible.
This paper describes experiences in the analysis of more than 390,000 tests describing type of material and distribution of germs. Documentation errors and practices as well as development of resistencies are described. Antibiotics are classified using a factoranalytical approach.
