Abstract
A performance test for a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is proposed using a thin film of a substance that is readily attacked by the laser beam on a substrate that is not. The focused laser beam writes a track along the test plate which is tilted such that also burn marks are obtained from the defocused laser beam, see figure 1.
