Abstract

When LORD RAYLEIGH [1] mathematically derived what he called surface waves, he was not contemplating use of those waves in radio frequency systems at frequencies between 10 and 1000 megahertz. However, devices using Rayleigh waves at these frequencies are now in everyday use in many households as well as being used as critical elements in a wide variety of military and commercial systems.
