Abstract
Several short sketches are presented of Lord Rayleigh, to show his method of working-and his interaction with his fellow scientists. The topics discussed are: his research on the blue of the sky (Rayleigh scattering); his rescue of Waterston from near-oblivion; his research on surface acoustic waves (Rayleigh waves); his collaboration with Agnes Pockels; and his research on blackbody radiation (the Rayleigh-Jeans Law).
