Abstract

In a mixer in which the components are completely separate at time t = to, the spatial concentration distribution will level out in the course of time (t > to). The mixing process is complete when the same concentration P is to be expected in the whole mixing space, independently of position. Repeating this mixing experiment under identical initial conditions will produce in the long run a highly characteristic concentration profile P(r,t) at time t (Figure 12.1.1).
