Abstract
The purpose of an employee assistance program (EAP) is to provide timely, professional help for people whose work performance might otherwise be negatively affected by mental or physical health problems. Many employers have come to recognize that, by offering such services to employees, they can accomplish two purposes: increasing the productivity of their work forces and providing a benefit that employees value.
