Abstract

The first nuclear fusion reaction was observed at the beginning of the 1930s in experiments carried out on a small electrostatic accelerator with the heavy hydrogen isotope deuterium. Deuterium nuclear fusion (the D-D reaction) may occur in one of the following ways:

$$\begin{array}{*{20}{c}} {D + D \to H{e^3} + n + 3.25MeV,} \\ {D + D \to T + p + 4Mev.} \end{array}$$
