A Simulation Model for Capacity Scheduling of Assembly Systems

Beside the handling of technical and mechanical problems the design of an assembly system requires a precise planning of capacity and its timely profile for the different products to be processed.A model which serves for a computer aided control of real assembly systems or for simulation of assembly systems to be designed is presented. It allows to combine creative with algorithmic elements in order to realize the consequences of different capacity scheduling strategies.Peculiarly the strategy of alternating products, i.e. products which can be processed on more one subsystem, is discussed.
