Abstract

The discovery that conjugated polymers can conduct electricity, after the interaction of appropriate reducing or oxidizing agents, has stimulated a wide research interest in this field of physics and chemistry of solids [1,2]. Several techniques have been used to study and characterize these new materials, and among them, vibrational spectroscopy techniques have proved to be very useful. In particular, the resonant Raman scattering (RRS), by inducing electronic transitions at different energies, can provide information on the conjugation length of the polymer. This has been widely studied by several groups in the case of trans-(CH)x [3,4,5]. The most peculiar features observed in this case are the satellite components appearing in the high frequency side of the main Raman bands C1064 and 1456 cm−1] when the exciting wavelength is tuned in the violet region (λ L = 457.9 nm).
