On Generation and Evolution of Waves in a Laminar Boundary Layer

  • Conference paper
Laminar-Turbulent Transition

Summary

Generation and development of disturbances in a flat plate laminar boundary layer was studied at the natural transition and sound excitation. Special attention was given to boundary conditions. The transformation of outer disturbances spectrum is found to take place in a neighbourhood of the leading edge. Evolution of velocity oscillations with definite frequencies was traced in the control volume. A number of features of formation and development of space-amplified waves was elicited.
