Zusammenfassung

Bösartige Tumoren bei Kindern sind, verglichen mit anderen Kinderkrankheiten und verglichen mit dem Krebsleiden beim Erwachsenen, seltene Erkrankungen. Etwa 3% aller Malignome betreffen Kinder. Die Tabelle 1 gibt eine Übersicht über die Inzidenz der kindlichen Tumoren. Betrachtet man dagegen die Statistiken der kindlichen Todesursachen, so sind bösartige Tumoren nach den Unfällen der zweithäufigste Grund des Ablebens von Kindern unter 14 Jahren (Tabelle 2). Etwa 2/3 dieser Malignome beim Kind betreffen das Blut-Lymphsystem und das Nervensystem (Tabelle 3).
