Pump-Pump Picosecond Laser Techniques and the Energy Redistribution Dynamics in Mass Spectrometry

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Chemical Physics ((CHEMICAL,volume 38))

Abstract

In conventional mass spectrometry, studies of the dynamics of processes occurrinn on the time scale between excitation (10−15 sec) and ion analysis (10−7 sec) are not possible to carry out. The use of two-color picosecond lasers of variable delay times as a source in mass spectrometry enables one to probe the dynamics of rapid energy redistribution and dissociation in the parent molecule and ion. This technique will be demonstrated by applying it to 2,4-hexadiyne.
