Abstract
Vibrational overtones and multiphonon states are related to important processes in dense molecular systems. Recently, we have proposed [1] and for the first time demonstrated [2] the use of nonlinear optical techniques to study these states. In particular, it was shown there that coherent excitation and probing of the time evolution of overtones and two-phonon states is feasible.
