Abstract

The cost and complexity of experimental arrangements for the generation of ultrashort, high-power, tunable excimer laser pulses is considerable (1,2). In this paper we describe a simple method and experimental arrangement for the generation of ultra-short excimer laser pulses of GW peak power with <5 % amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) pedestal, using only a single commercial excimer laser for the generation of a single ultrashort dye laser pulse at twice the excimer laser wavelength and amplification of the frequency-doubled dye laser pulse.
