Electronic Properties of HgTe-CdTe Superlattices

Abstract

We report here magneto-absorption investigations performed in HgTe-CdTe superlattices grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The observed magneto-optical transitions are interpreted in the framework of the envelope function approximation and the band structure of the system is determined, in particular the valence band offset at the HgTe-CdTe interface, and the superlattice energy gap as a function of layer thicknesses.
