Zusammenfassung

Die relative Strahlenresistenz hypoxischer Zellen, die in menschlichen Tumoren vermutet werden, wird in der Radioonkologie als eine entscheidende Ursache für das Auftreten von Lokalrezidiven angesehen. Nach grundlegenden Untersuchungen von Thomlinson und Gray (1955) entstehen diese sauerstoffarmen Zellregionen als Folge ungeordneten Tumorwachstums, wenn die Vaskularisierung des Tumors mit der Zellproliferation nicht mehr Schritt halten kann.
