Zusammenfassung

Die Strahlentherapie der primären und sekundären Hirngeschwülste, aber auch die im Rahmen der Therapie der Leukämien eingesetzte adjuvante Schädelbestrahlung, schädigen gesundes Hirngewebe. Das Zentralnervensystem (ZNS) erweist sich als nicht so strahlenresistent, wie es noch vor 30 Jahren schien. Allerdings sind unsere Kenntnisse über die Strahlenfolgen am Hirn, am Rückenmark und am peripheren Nerven unter klinischen Bedingungen noch unvollkommen und zum Teil lückenhaft.
