New Adjuvant Trials for Resectable Breast Cancer at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori of Milan

Clinical Interest of Steroid Hormone Receptors in Breast Cancer

Part of the book series: Recent Results in Cancer Research ((RECENTCANCER,volume 91))

Abstract

The 5-year results of the CMF adjuvant program carried out in Milan have shown significantly better relapse-free (RFS) and total survival rates in women with positive axillary nodes who were treated with 12 cycles of combination chemotherapy following radical mastectomy than in those treated only with surgery [1, 11]. The 5-year results were subsequently confirmed in the 6-year analysis [2].
