Phonon-Soliton Interaction in K2SeO4

Abstract

An incommensurate phase is characterized by an order parameter that is modulated with a wavelength incommensurate with the lattice periodicity. Close to the transition temperature Ti this modulation is sinusoidal (plane-wave regime); the corresponding elementary excitations are fluctuations in amplitude and phase of the ordering coordinate (amplitons and phasons).
