Transport Properties of Magnetic Metals Near Phase Transitions

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Solid-State Sciences ((SSSOL,volume 48))

Abstract

The transport properties of magnetic materials near phase transitions have been the subject of rather intense research, both experimental and theoretical, even though spectacular effects are not often observed. A more positive viewpoint can be taken when a magnetic field is applied. However such a situation leads to much more complexity, and its consequences have not yet been well understood. Nevertheless, the determination of molecular properties from transport data analysis cannot be ruled out on these grounds. Various questions posed by experimental results imply thorough research for their own intellectual sake on one hand, but they can also introduce frontier fields. Even when much of the molecular information can be gathered by other means, it remains that transport properties can reveal interesting aspects, the more so when intrinsic features of nonequilibrium conditions are fully used.
