Summary
The use of sharp-edged orifice plates to measure the mass dryness fraction in two-phase flow in pipes is discussed. In particular the influence of the following aspects are examined:
-
a
conditions near the thermodynamic critical point;
-
b
pipe and orifice size;
-
c
compressibility effects of the gas phase;
-
d
the viscosity of the liquid; and
-
e
setting length, flow straighteners, and homogenisers.
