Recent developments of the study of glasses have shown the importance of topological properties of the structure. In order to understand the consequences of the topological strains on the structure it is helpful , as a first step, to relax these strains. This is achieved if the structure extends in a space which can be freely curved. Consequently the whole structure is only governed by the local chemical interaction, and does not depend on the necessity space-filling requirements.
