Zusammenfassung

Erste therapeutische Röntgenbestrahlungen der malignen Struma gehen in die frühen Jahre des Jahrhunderts zurück (Morton 1903; Pfahler 1910). 1922 empfiehlt Pfahler die postoperative Nachbehandlung, wie auch die alleinige Strahlentherapie. Portman (1927) sah eine „tatsächliche Verbesserung der Überlebensrate“, wenn maligne Schilddrüsentumoren routinemäßig postoperativ nachbestrahlt worden waren.
