Abstract

During the past few years the Brillouin light scattering (BS) technique has been elaborated into a powerful method to study the properties of magnetically ordered materials (for a recent review see /1/). This field of research evolved after the development of electronically stabilized multipass and multipass tandem Fabry Perot spectrometers (FPI) by SANDERCOCK /2,3/. These instruments have a very high contrast (>1010), thus allowing the detection of the extremely weak signals of inelastic light scattering from spinwaves in opaque materials or thin films.
