Zusammenfassung

Auf kaum einem Gebiet der Krebsforschung sind in den letzten zehn Jahren so viele neue Erkenntnisse gereift wie in dem Problemkreis Metastasierung und invasives Wachstum. Zwei neue Zeitschriften mit relativ hoher Auflage sind allein in den letzten drei Jahren dazu gegründet worden. Das Thema ist aber nicht nur wissenschaftlich hochaktuell. Da nach allen neueren Statistiken etwa 90% der Krebstodesfälle Metastasenfolgen sind, ist die praktische Relevanz auch statistisch offenkundig. Ich will versuchen, wenigstens einige neuere Ergebnisse aufzuzeigen und vor allem auch auf offene Fragen hinzuweisen.
