Abstract
This chapter recounts some salient features of sexual assaults on children under 14 years of age. Special legislation was introduced by the Israeli legislature in 1955 (Law of Evidence Revision 1955) intending to protect children under this age involved in sexual assaults. This law provides that the police shall not interrogate children involved in a sex offense. Instead, specially appointed youth interrogators question children in such instances. It is also the youth interrogator who gives evidence in court, unless he certifies that the child-victim can give evidence.
