Abstract

In a few cases, hybridization between mutants and their initial lines or between different mutants results in a more or less pronounced heterosis effect. The problem has been discussed with a review of the literature by Stoilov and Daskaloff (1976) stating that the combined use of mutations and heterosis seems to be promising in both cross- and self-fertilizing species.
