Abstract
The Indian system of yoga and specially its asanas have made an impression on many people in many countries. There are also classes of yogic exercises organised in many cities. This has got acceptance because of its proven relief of several physical maladies. But the classical Indian concept does not evaluate yogic asanas as a process of exercise or acrobatic movements to bring in physical fitness. On the contrary, it formulates these asanas as a part of comprehensive systematic practice which ultimately will bring mental happiness.
