Abstract
The neural connections of the posterior parietal associative cortex are complex. In this respect the posterior parietal lobe differs radically from the primary somatosensory cortex in the anterior part of the parietal lobe which receives its predominant input from the ventrobasal complex of the thalamus. No single input dominates the connections to the posterior parietal areas 5 and 7; they receive a multitude of connections from several cortical and subcortical sources. Likewise, the parietal associative cortex projects its efferent connections to numerous different regions.
