Unsteady Adverse Pressure Gradient Turbulent Boundary Layers

  • Conference paper
Unsteady Turbulent Shear Flows

Summary

A one-equation turbulence model, taking into consideration the viscous and buffer regions and including some dynamics of the turbulence, has been used to solve unsteady adverse pressure gradient boundary layers. A fully developed steady flat-plate turbulent boundary layer has been assumed at the inlet of the unsteady region. The numerical results have been compared with the experimental ones obtained by Reynolds and Parikh [7], showing a very good agreement for the displacement thickness behavior. Discrepancies are obtained for the skin friction at high frequencies.
